New Rebel - you get an experienced XR rebel to show you around - helps you decide whether this is a movement worthy of your time - connect with other new rebels
Buddy - you support your local group and the movement to grow and thrive - you engage with a new human being and help them on their journey! XR - new rebels have a better understanding of XR and therefore more likely to engage - we strengthen the movement by strengthening the bonds between us
You will have two buddies to form a buddy trio. to stimulate learning and more diverse conversations than groups of two.
We try to create as diverse trios as possible, but they always contain a mix of youth and adult, new to the movement and experienced. We also try to make the trios diverse in terms of background and neuro-diversity where possible and appropriate.
If you are under 25 and interested in joining the programme, the coordinators will organise a trio for you.
• A contact • A friendly face • An informal source of information on the local group and the wider movement • Someone who knows how things work and is prepared to share that experience
• The ability to listen • Openness and commitment to being a buddy – it can be a learning experience for both parties • Good time management and self-management skills • Relevant knowledge and experience to be able to provide the right level of support • An honest and considerate approach to giving feedback and asking challenging questions including the ability to give constructive feedback • Ability to identify learning opportunities • Ability to use questions to encourage new rebels to think for themselves • A willingness to learn
We ask the buddy and new rebel to stay in contact for 30 days. And speak to each other at least once a week.
